distressed project recovery
A Dynamics ERP implementation project had gone off track due to various factors including loss of key staff at the implementing customers site and numerous scope change requests. There was also a lack of change management around scope.
We implemented a scope and change traceability matrix in order to assist the supplier in demonstrating where and how original scope had been changed and therefore justify the increase in cost of the project.
Project Insights embedded an executive program manager into the project for several weeks to add gravitas to an improved governance initiative for the project. The customer was initially obstructive to this process but we were able to demonstrate how the change would get the project back on track and lead to successful outcomes for both parties.
The quality assurance process involved an improved, workflow-driven defect tracking and resolution system that provided the development and test teams with process and status transparency. Through firmly governing the accurate updating of each issue and resolution, we were able to demonstrate progress in fixing the issues and the the upgraded system went live without any major problems.
The project successfully went live with a cost overrun limited to less than 15% of original budget.
